Biography


I am a Finnish orienteer living in Sollentuna, Sweden. Here's my life in a nutshell.

1978 - I was born
1985 - Figure skating was everything and I wanted to become next Katarina Witt.
1990 - Took part to my first O-events.
1992 - Won Kainuu-O-week, my first big victory (D14).
1993 - Finnish Champion in orienteering for the first time (D15).
1995 - Debut in the Finnish junior national team in the Nordic Champs.
1997 - 4th in my first JWOC. Relay gold in the Nordic Champs.
1998 - High school graduation. Relay gold in JWOC!
1999 - Venla victory no 1 with Satu, Liisa and Annika. Moved to Stockholm.
2001 - Got badly injured in a car accident. Doubtful about my future career.
2002 - Learning things step by step again..
2003 - MSc in biomedicine. 3rd in Euromeeting. 4th in Swedish Champs.
2004 - Moved to Finland and started with my PhD project. 17th in my first WOC.
2005 - 8th in the Nordic Champs. 17th in WOC. 3rd in PWT in China.

2006 - 11th in the European Champs. 
2007 - Tibial stress fracture. No WOC. Got my first paper published!
2008 - Silver at Czech Champs between Brozkova sisters (both WOC medalists that year). Sick and not able to run the finals at WOC.
2009 - Tibial stress fracture no 2. No WOC. Brilliant autumn season with 3 medals in the Finnish Champs.
2010 - First individual senior gold in the Finnish Champs. Venla victory no2. WOC in Trondheim. Finished my PhD.
2011 - Moved to UK, became a pro and overcooked it. Success in relays: 1st in Tiomila & 2nd in Venla.
2012 - Run my first marathons: Jungfrau 4:20 & Valencia 3:03
2013 - Comeback to the Finnish national team. 12th in World Cup in NZ.
2014 - 6th in the World Cup in Spain, my best international result. Moved to Sweden to take a step forward in orienteering.
2015 - Swedish Champion! (relay)
